Lydia is an artist based in Minneapolis, MN who primarily works with oil pastels, paint, and photography. They recently earned their Bachelors from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Art, Horticulture, and Anthropology. These fields have greatly influenced their art through subject, material, and overall process. As they continue their artist journey, they look forward to exploring more media types, scale, and working towards producing and selling originals and commissions they can be proud of.

Their artist statement resides below:

My art is an extension of my worldview-- because of that, I explore many different avenues in my work, and a variety of mediums allows me to do so. In drawing, I focus on a more abstracted variety of faces, defamiliarizing viewers with their preconceived notion of facial features. In painting, I strive for realism to capture the beauty of mundane objects, moments, or photos, or abstraction to capture the stories of different characters. In photography, I aim to tell stories, while also capturing the beauty in the mundane. Mixing media allows me to explore even these themes even more and push my creative bounds. Overall, my art aims to capture both the internal and external stimuli encountered in my daily life.
